- Why Disney? Why not other companies? There are two reasons that we are shooting for The Walt Disney Company and Disney alone. One is of the head and the other the heart. Practically speaking, we feel that only Disney has the means (both in terms of resources, creativity, and love for the business they're in) to bring our creation to life the way we have envisioned it. Also, both Patrick and Sara Elizabeth are Disney shareholders; they are familiar and comfortable enough with the company to entrust Disney with their money as well as their brainchild.
Speaking personally, though, both Patrick and Sara Elizabeth have a soft spot for the House that Mickey Built. They both grew up loving Disney's films, Broadway plays, theme parks, and all the other offerings that bring magic into a child's life. In fact, the pair met at Disney World in Florida and have been inseparable ever since! - What will you do if Disney passes on the project? If Disney passes on the project, we will probably novelize it. A lot of ideas had to be cut from the screenplay for reasons of time, practicality, movie audience appeal, etc., so we might just combine our original notes with some of our illustrations. We think it would make a rockin' book! Our plan would then be to raise enough awareness and fan support of the book to, you guessed it, get Disney to pay attention! And while it is pretty unlikely that we will option the project to other studios, there's always that possibility. One idea that has even been floated around is producing the movie ourselves and asking Disney to distribute a la Pixar.
- Why is it entitled "Peter and Iona"? Peter and Iona is a working title for the project. If Disney picks it up, they will probably change it. The main characters are named in honor of Iona and Peter Opie, best known for their contributions to childrens' English literature.
